Ford Motor Company

As a Senior Designer, I had the privilege of contributing to an innovative art program for Ford's Dearborn campuses in Detroit, Michigan. My role involved retouching and remixing archival photography from Ford's extensive archives, weaving the company’s rich history into contemporary design narratives. Additionally, I collaborated on creating 3D installations and environmental graphic design elements that seamlessly integrated Ford's brand identity with the workplace environment. This project aimed to transform the campus spaces into inspiring, dynamic environments that resonate with employees, fostering a deeper connection to Ford’s legacy while embracing its forward-thinking vision.

Environment graphic design

Built on Ford’s reputation for continual innovation, the EGD system is a dynamic exploration of movement and countless spatial forms it can assume through an investigation of deconstruction, re-invention, and re-assembly.

The relational framework of the environmental graphic design system is comprised of The whole, The System, and The Parts.

the whole

Ford’s truths, values, vision and foucs on the future of mobility.

the system

The pattern that is created as the whole begins to segment, flex and evolve.

the parts

the attributes that live within the system and give each pace their look and feel - like color, texture composition and scale.

The graphic system was developed from the deconstruction of an oval shape into quadrants, and the intersections those shapes form when they are reassembled.

The Talent wall

In building six, new hires enter the building to learn a brief history of Ford accomplishments. The design of the talent wall will embody these incredible achievements through a timeline of graphics, diagrams and illustrations bringing a positive and encouraging message to the viewer. As guests come through the space, the EGD acts as an inspiring tool to ease nerves and anxiety by depicting positive innovations with a strong focus on the future aspirations and goals. Bold branded blue graphics and dimensional objects strategicallyplaced along the wall provide a playful, youthful and intriguing element to help call attention to special story points.

Custom Archival Art

Connecting artistic thinking with branding, architecture, interior design and the end-user.
The artwork program goes beyond a picture in a frame, building connections between people and places through art.

Dimensional ART

The Ford Driving Dynamics Lab (DLL) serves as a hub of innovation, housing cutting-edge vehicle testing labs, a full-service garage and shop, collaborative workspaces, and welcoming cafés for employees across campus. Reflecting this multi-functional purpose, the concept for the lobby’s feature artwork captures the spirit of mobility, engineering, and collaboration.

At the heart of the lobby, the feature wall sculpture freezes a dynamic moment in time. A swirling vortex of energy spirals into vibrant, rhythmic patterns, inspired by the mechanical intricacies of engine components and the essence of motion. This artwork embodies the building’s role as a center for driving dynamics, blending seamlessly with its architectural design and fostering a sense of innovation and purpose.

ford in motion

Drawing from the Environmental Graphic Design (EGD), I created a series of animations for Ford’s office and retail spaces that brought the brand’s identity to life. Reinterpreting EGD elements, I crafted motion sequences that emphasized energy and storytelling, bridging Ford’s legacy with its vision for the future and enhancing the atmosphere of its spaces.
